Hi - it's a sunny morning here as I write to you for the April newsletter and I count myself lucky as I look out the window and see clear blue sky.
It's been a busy month with lots of Bond news to chew on. You can't have escaped that Amazon finally completed the purchase of MGM and soon after green-lit a new 007 themed show.
Don't get too excited about that just yet though, as you'll see below!

News
The 25th James Bond film scored a single BAFTA award while Lashana Lynch picked up one for herself. The event opened with Shirley Bassey performing Diamonds Are Forever as a nod to the 60th anniversary of Eon's James Bond series.
Sticking to Awards, No Time to Die picked up one Oscar out of three nominations. The award ceremony acknowledged the 60th anniversary of the series but will probably be long remembered for Will Smith slapping Chris Rock.
But the big news of the month was internet giant Amazon completing its purchase of MGM days after getting the green light from Europe.
Amazon announced it had completed its purchase of MGM after the FTC had made no move to prevent it going through. It had a six month window to block the sale.
Deadline soon chimed in on what it understood of Amazon's plans for 007. There plans were mainly to leave James Bond well alone as the job of integrating the studio into the internet behemoth.
But then came the news that Amazon had green lit a new 007 series. The reality TV show wasn't quite what anyone had anticipated but Eon has been working on it in the background for the last few years so Amazon can hardly be blamed.
Moving on from Amazon, Edward Biddulph's has a new James Bond inspired cookbook coming out soon. Double-O Dining is to be published by BearManor Media in May. Personally
I can't wait for this.
Meanwhile, Daniel Craig tested positive for Covid, resulting in the cancellation of a number of preview performances of Daniel Craig’s 15 week Broadway run of Macbeth. Alas, poor
Daniel!
And John Hodge talked briefly about why he and Danny Boyle left Bond 25 in August 2018 (so long ago!).
