There's not much that is newsworthy in the world of James Bond this month, but what there is important.

There were some highs in the Eon Producers collecting a couple of awards. But anyone thinking Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson would plough on directly into Bond 26 are in for disappointment as Broccoli reveals below.

And Paul Haggis, who co-wrote Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace, was arrested in Italy on rape charges.

On top of that there is a new issue of MI6 Confidential; I updated my James Bond Gift Guide; and I recorded a livestream with Bond author and blogger Edward Biddulph about his new book.

Bond producers awarded CBEs by Prince William
Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson receive award for services to film, drama, philanthropy and skills. The James Bond producers attended a ceremony at Buckingham Palace where there to each received the Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) from Prince William.

Bond producers receive BFI Fellowships
Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson attended the British Film Institute chair’s dinner at Claridges in London. There they were awarded BFI Fellowships for their achievements and contribution to cinema, the highest honour bestowed by the BFI. 

Barbara Broccoli: Bond 26 “at least” 2 years from shooting
At the event Deadline spoke to Broccoli about progress on finding Daniel Craig’s replacement and the state of Bond 26. They have some big decisions to make before picking a new actor to play Bond sp Broccoli says filming won't start for at least two years. But, if Eon continues at the same pace it has done for the last couple of decades, it is likely to be longer. Will Amazon boot them up the backside to get things in motion. Watch this space.

Paul Haggis arrested for sexual assault
Filmmaker Paul Haggis was arrested by Italian police on Sunday, accused of sexual assault. The Canadian writer, producer and director is in Italy for Allora Fest, a new international festival of cinema, art and music which opens on Tuesday. He has since been released from house arrest pending a police investigation.

MI6 Confidential #64: Behind the scenes with the second unit
Issue #64 of the full-colour James Bond magazine MI6 Confidential is now shipping worldwide. As dust settles on No Time to Die, some of the thematic choices remain divisive – but the artistry, passion, and precision that went into making this film is undeniable.

James Bond Food: a chat with Edward Biddulph
Last month I invited Edward Biddulph to record a livestream to talk about his new book. It's a great read and while officially a cookbook, in reality it is so much more.

I don't remember the last time I enjoyed a book related to 007 as much Double-O Dining: A James Bond Cookbook and thoroughly recommend it even if you don't cook. The sound is a bit dodgy for the first 10 minutes but it was all great fun. Book details and ordering below:

Okay, so that's all for now. I'm currently reading an advance copy of Double or Nothing by Kim Sherwood. I can't say much about it yet but I'm enjoying it far more than I thought I would. I'll do a full review in time for its publication in September.
