Hi
The end of January was punctuated by the sad news of John Barry's death
from a heart attack at the age of 77.
Although his final Bond score was The Living Daylights (1987) many
fans has dreamed that he would return for one last outing.
Barry's influence on the James Bond films is immense, responsible for
some of the best loved theme songs and his unmistakable sound shaping
our idea of what a James Bond film should be.
And while he may not have composed the James Bond Theme, his arrangement
of it turned it into what is certainly one of the most recognisable melodies
of the 20th century.
Bond 23 News
On a happier note, it was at last announced that Bond 23 was going ahead
with the release date set for November 9th, 2012.
Daniel Craig is confirmed back as 007 and Sam Mendes directing. It was
also confirmed that John Logan would be joining Bond regulars Purvis and
Wade to pen the screenplay.
While not part of the official announcement, Judi Dench has also confirmed
that she will return; and Sony is also on board to partner with MGM in
Bond 23 and Bond 24.
