Wednesday 3rd October 2012 Hi Well, this Friday marks Global James Bond Day, 50 years since the release of "Dr No" on the big screen.And it's going to be a busy month for Bond fans, with Adele's "Skyfall" theme song due to be released and then, on 23rd October, the Royal Premiere of "Skyfall" at the Royal Albert Hall in London followed a few days later by it going on general release in the UK. If you are in the US you have slightly longer to wait, but it has recently been announced that IMAX theatres will screen "Skyfall" a day earlier than planned on 8th November. I'll be in touch with any big announcements. Until then,
New James Bond fragrance sells out at Harrods:
Last month, on August 15th, the new James Bond fragrance for men was launched exclusively at Harrods. However, with a £32 bottle of the fragrance reportedly selling every four minutes Harrods had sold its entire stock of 500 units by the bank holiday weekend. Skyfall – Royale Premiere confirmed for October 23rd at Royal Albert Hall:
Today it has been confirmed that The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall will attend the Royale Premiere of Skyfall at the Royal Albert Hall on October 23rd, three days before the film goes on general release. Skyfall – Turkish locations [video]:
A new video blog provided by 007.com on YouTube has Sam Mendes talking about filming in Turkey. He says that Skyfall shows the best of Turkey without falling into cliche, and how they have tried to capture Istanbul as it is today, as an every changing and developing city. The video shows some beautiful long shots of some of the city's highlights, as well as behind the scenes footage of the pre-title sequence. Ian Fleming Publications has announced on their website the launch of the new Vintage Classics paperback series covering all 14 of Ian Fleming’s James Bond books as well as the 12 audiobooks released by AudioGo. Launch ad for Sky Movies 007 HD channel [video]:
ky Movies has released a video advertising the new "007 HD" channel to be launched next month. It cuts together seamlessly all Bond actors in a driving sequence that relegates Timothy Dalton to being the hapless truck driver from the opening of Quantum of Solace (perhaps they should have had him for real), and if you thought it was Blofeld who machine gunned down George Lazenby's Aston Marin at the end of On Her Majesty's Secret Service then think again.
It's an excellent advert for the new channel and even if you're unable to get the channel the video is worth a look - it certainly made me chuckle. Read more...

Heineken teaser ad staring Bérénice Marlohe:
Earlier in the year there was some controversy when it was announced that for the first time ever, James Bond would drink Heineken on screen. The huge debate was wildly overdone as 007 drinks beer on several occasions in the books and memories are short, as he was seen drinking a bottle of beer in Quantum of Solace. Adele confirmed for Skyfall:
Finally it's been confirmed that Adele will be performing the Skyfall theme song after months of speculation. The confirmation came via Adele's official twitter channel by simply posting a photo of the cover of what is presumably the lyrics, shown above. From that we can gather that the song was composed by Adele and Paul Epworth, which had also been rumoured. Thomas Newman, who is composing the soundtrack, therefore appears not to be involved, which is a pity as the elements from "You Know My Name" worked well in the Casino Royale soundtrack. Read more...
