James Bond News: December 2016
Published: Tue, 12/06/16
As a 007 fan and a follower of The James Bond Dossier, I'm pretty certain you're eager for news about Bond 25.
But since SPECTRE we've had close to zero. Nothing at all has been confirmed, but Daniel Craig reiterated he has yet to make a decision on his return.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. If the script is good then he is more likely to return. If he thinks it is terrible, it makes it much easier for him to say no.
Around the time of SPECTRE's release Barbara Broccoli said work would commence in the spring. However nothing official has yet emerged. No director has been announced, no writer confirmed.
That doesn't mean nothing has happened, but it also might be a reflection on the lack of any distribution deal between MGM and another studio. MGM's deal with Sony ended after SPECTRE, and while Michael G Wilson had said he expected a new deal early in the year, so far nothing.
Meanwhile his half sister and Eon co-boss Barbara Broccoli is busy with a variety of other film and theatre projects.
That all points towards a 2019 release date for Bond 25 and in my eyes makes it less likely that Daniel Craig will return. But I've been known to be wrong before, so will have to wait and see what happens.
So I'll wish you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. See you in 2017!

Ian Fleming joins Ernest Hemingway, JRR Tolkien, F Scott Fitzgerald and James Joyce as the five twentieth century authors whose first editions are most expensive. Casino Royale lies fourth in that list, after Joyce’s Ulysses ($460,500), Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby ($300,000), Tolkien’s The Hobbit ($210,500) and ahead of Hemingway’s In Our Time ($25,000). Remember though that […]

Hard as it is to believe, today marks the tenth anniversary of Casino Royale’s Leicester Square premiere. Here I revisit my experience of that day. The world premiere of any Bond film is a huge event. However, with a new actor playing 007 and a change in direction for the series, there was a huge […]
In the week of Casino Royale’s 10th anniversary we take a look at how the 21st Bond film came into being and the introduction of Daniel Craig as 007. After Die Another Day (2002) there can have been few who believed that Pierce Brosnan wouldn’t return for a fifth outing as 007. Today the film is […]
I just got back from a short visit to Lisbon in Portugal. I had a fantastic time there and although the trip was short and sweet, managed to get to see one location from On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.
