Hi - With some footage now in the can we're going to hit the ground running this month as we take a look at the latest on Bond 25 .

We'll then move on to the new podcast from MI6 called James Bond & Friends. It's a light hearted look at all things 007 and great fun to record.

After that we've got a book review that should be of interest to fans of Timothy Dalton's Bond films.

But first the sad news that two actors have died in the last few days. Shane Rimmer, who appeared in three Bond films, passed away at the age of 89. The Canadian actor and screenwriter also provided the voice of Scott Tracy in 'Thunderbirds'.

We also learnt of the death of the model and actress Tania Mallet, who appeared as Tilly Masterson in 'Goldfinger'. She was 77.

Bond 25

Bond 25 logoWhile we haven't yet had a press launch of Bond 25, the films has finally started shooting (yay!).

The press event for 'SPECTRE' was live streamed on YouTube, so I expect they'll do the same for Bond 25. As soon as I know the details I'll email the link to you so you can watch live.

Talking about filming, Cary Fukunaga was shooting on location in Norway last week. There's even video footage of the shoot. Just be beware that it contains spoilers.

Early in March the Daily Mail’s Baz Bamigboye, usually a reliable source of info on 007, reported that Bond 25 would head to Jamaica. Last week it emerged from the Jamaican government itself that officials will travel to Pinewood to meet Bond 25 producers this week. Presumably they plan on finalising details then.

While I'm not hearing any casting rumours, Variety added weight to a story we reported in February about shooting in Italy. Variety says Bond 25 is headed to Italy to film in Matera in June

Podcast: James Bond & Friends

Last month my friends at MI6 launched a new podcast called 'James Bond & Friends'. I'm in all the episodes recorded so far and hope to feature regularly.

Once Bond 25 is properly underway you'll get frequent updates on how it seems to be going as well as discussing other aspects of the James Bond universe.

Check it out on iTunes. And if you like it then make sure you subscribe!

Book review

Eoghan Lyng reviews He Disagreed With Something That Ate Him, a book looking at Timothy Dalton’s two outings as 007. Through Cary Edwards’ monograph, readers are invited on a methodological study through the narratives, strengths, virtues and zeitgeists presented throughout the two Dalton films.

Okay, that's all for now. Once I have details on the Bond 25 press launch I'll let you know. I'm expecting it to be around lunchtime on Thursday or Friday for the very simple reason I won't be able to easily watch live on either of those days!

Meanwhile, if you'd like this newsletter in audio or video formats then keep an eye out over the next couple of days. I'll upload to iTunes and YouTube once recorded.
