Hi - What a start to the month!

I'm just back from an Aston Martin driving day organised by Secret Cinema ahead of the start of their immersive screenings of Casino Royale, which you can read about below.

And David Zaritsky of The Bond Experience has very kindly included my book, The Complete Guide to the Drinks of James Bond in his latest video, James Bond Summer Reading Picks:

If you don't yet have a copy you'll find a very special offer below the video when you view it on YouTube!

He's picked some other great choices, all of one of which I have in my library. Watch the video to hear what he has to say.

Bond 25

Bond 25 continues, although the Daily Mail’s Baz Bamigboye joined other tabloids by reporting that the Bond 25 script is still unfinished and being endlessly re-written by a committee headed by director Cary Fukunaga.

But whatever the real state of the script, Bond 25’s second unit was keeping busy in Jamaica after the main unit returned to Pinewood, including a big action scene [spoilers].

But just when things seemed to be going well for Bond 25, the tabloids reported Daniel Craig had injured his ankle, setting back filming. Eon Productions later confirmed the injury and revealed he would undergo minor surgery. Meanwhile filming continues.

Finally, Baz Bamigboye revealed the plot for Bond 25 [spoilers] revolves around genetic engineering. Moreover, a source tells him Phoebe Waller-Bridge was brought in at the insistence of Daniel Craig to help make sense of it all.

Aston Martin

We've had a couple of pieces of news this month on the special edition cars being produced by Aston Martin.

But, as I mentioned at the start, I attended an incredible Aston Martin driving day on Saturday organised by Secret Cinema, which you can read all about below.

Secret Cinema Presents Casino Royale opens on 5th June and runs to 22nd September 2019.

It’s the largest show that Secret Cinema has ever produced and tickets are available to buy now from Secret Cinema's website: www.secretcinema.org.

Back in August Aston Martin announced it was to build a limited edition of 25 DB5s kitted out with Q Branch optional extras. Each Goldfinger DB5 continuation car will be priced at £2.75m plus taxes. First deliveries to customers will commence in 2020 but the car will not be street legal.

The Aston Martin DBS Superleggera is set to become the newest James Bond inspired car, thanks to the most recent collaboration between Aston Martin and Eon Productions, the company that produces the James Bond films with Metro Goldwyn Mayer Studios.

Just days before the start of Secret Cinema’s immersive screenings of Casino Royale I was given the chance to test drive Aston Martin’s current models. Here I discuss the day and what cars I drove - and how!

James Bond & Friends podcast

We're now up to episode 13 of James Bond & Friends with a new episode due out soon and another to be recorded shortly.

We cover many aspects of the James Bond universe, naturally including Bond 25. Check it out on iTunes. And if you like it then make sure you subscribe!

MI6 Confidential magazine

It is surprisingly infrequent that the Bond movies reflect on Bond’s military pedigree – a Commander in the Royal Navy, recruited to military intelligence, starting as a Lieutenant, by the end of the war a Commander.
MI6 Confidential #49: Adventure, Writ Large

For the 16th Bond adventure Michael G Wilson took the lead in penning a darker, more brooding Bond story, borrowing only a smattering of Fleming source material and setting the story South of the border.

Orlebar Brown

Orlebar Brown has today launched a new 007 collection inspired by clothing from the early James Bond films. Items worn by Sean Connery, George Lazenby and Roger Moore are all represented by the collection produced in association with Eon Productions. You can find polos, shirts, shorts and a dressing gown from a variety of the early films.

Okay, that's it for now. I'm still stunned from driving a DBS Superleggera on a track at a crazy 176 mph - that's an eye watering 283 km/h. read about it above if you've just scanned through this email.

Back next month with more!
